Wearing Elastics
Elastics are a key part of bite correction treatment. They apply gentle, consistent force to help move teeth into the correct position and achieve a healthy bite.
Before leaving our office, we’ll make sure you understand exactly how and where to place them. Always follow instructions carefully—incorrect wear can affect your progress.
How to Wear Your Elastics

- Wear elastics all day and night, removing only to eat and brush
- Consistency is essential—missing wear time slows progress
- Change elastics daily to maintain effectiveness
- Mild soreness at first is normal and temporary
- Nighttime wear alone will not move teeth
Keep extra elastics with you so you can replace them immediately after meals.
Elastic Alternatives
Invisalign Mandibular Advancement
For Class II (overbite) cases, Invisalign MA helps guide the lower jaw forward while straightening teeth—without bulky appliances.
Herbst Appliance
A fixed appliance that holds the lower jaw forward to correct overbites. It works continuously to help create long-term, stable bite correction.
TADs (Temporary Anchorage Devices)
Small, discreet anchors used to improve tooth movement and bite correction—often reducing or eliminating the need for surgery, extractions, or elastics in some cases.

Benefits include:
- Greater control of tooth movement
- May reduce or eliminate need for surgery
- Can replace elastics or headgear in some cases
- Works with braces or Invisalign
- Not visible during treatment
- Well tolerated by patients
DynaFlex CS5
A modern alternative to elastics that delivers consistent, controlled force for correcting overbite and underbite cases more efficiently and comfortably.
